PEI Express Entry

Summary:

The Prince Edward Island (PEI) Express Entry stream operates under the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) and is closely tied to federal immigration allocations, application volumes, and provincial labour market needs.

Currently, PEI is prioritizing skilled workers in high-demand sectors such as:

  • Health care

  • Skilled trades

  • Childcare

  • Other key industries facing labour shortages

Applicants in the sales and service sector may not be prioritized for invitations at this time.

Why Apply Through PEI Express Entry?

A nomination through the PEI PNP Express Entry stream significantly increases your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence from the federal government.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify under the PEI Express Entry stream, you must:

    • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

    • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

  2. Create and maintain a valid Express Entry profile with IRCC and be placed in the candidate pool.

  3. Be living and working in PEI with an eligible employer, as priority is given to candidates who are already contributing to the province’s workforce.

Additional Work Experience Requirements

You must show 9 months of continuous, full-time work with your PEI employer and have at least 4 months remaining on your work permit at the time of submitting your EOI if:

  • You hold a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) but graduated from an institution outside of PEI, OR

  • You are on a spousal open work permit tied to a spouse’s study permit from an institution outside of PEI.

How to Apply

  1. Review the PEI Workforce Application Guide.

  2. Create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile in PEI’s immigration system. You will need:

    • A valid email address

    • Identification details (including passport information)

  3. Once verified, complete your profile. Only one active profile is allowed at a time.

  • EOIs remain valid for six months.

  • You may update your profile if your situation changes before receiving an invitation.

  • If your situation changes after being invited, you must notify the PEI Office of Immigration.

  1. If invited to apply, you will receive an email with your file number and instructions.

    • Applicants must complete all required forms.

    • Employers must submit supporting documentation.

Application Fees

  • No fee to submit an EOI profile.

  • If selected, there is a $300 CAD non-refundable fee to submit your application.

  • Payment is accepted by Mastercard, Visa, Mastercard Debit, or Visa Debit.

Required Forms

Your employer must complete:

  • PEIW-02: PEI Workforce Job Offer Form

You may also need to complete:

  • PEIW-03: PEI Workforce Use of Representative Form (if applicable)

After Nomination

  • If nominated by PEI, you must accept the nomination through your MyCIC account.

  • Once invited by IRCC, submit your permanent residency application electronically with all required documents and federal processing fees.

  • Final decisions on permanent residency are made by IRCC.

Who Is Not Eligible?

You are not eligible if you are in Canada illegally. For example, if you hold a study permit but are not enrolled in studies, you cannot apply.
