Alberta express entry stream selection criteria

The AAIP (Alberta Express Entry Stream) chooses candidates based on the information they declare in their Express Entry profile.

You might get a Notification of Interest (NOI) if you:

  • Have an active Express Entry profile in the federal pool.
  • Express an interest in permanently moving to Alberta.
  • Work in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic growth.
  • Have a minimum CRS score of 300.

Elements that increase your chance of selection for Alberta

Your likelihood of getting a Notification of Interest (NOI) from the AAIP could go up if:

  • You have a job offer in Alberta.
  • You graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
  • You have a parent, child, or sibling who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Alberta.
  • French is your first language.
  • Your Express Entry profile remains valid for more than 5 months.

Accelerated Tech Pathway

For the Accelerated Tech Pathway under the Alberta Express Entry Stream, candidates must meet the Alberta Express Entry Stream minimum requirements, work full-time in Alberta or have a bona fide job offer for full-time employment based in Alberta, in an eligible tech occupation for an Alberta employer in the tech industry. The job offer must include a base wage meeting provincial and possibly LMIA requirements. Candidates must have valid immigration status if working in Alberta and the occupation in their Express Entry profile must match their Alberta employment or job offer.
