Worker with Saskatchewan Work Experience
Summary:
The Saskatchewan Experience category under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program is designed for foreign nationals who are already living and working in Saskatchewan on valid temporary work permits.
This category allows eligible workers and graduates with Saskatchewan work experience to apply for provincial nomination for permanent residence.
Applicants must generally:
- Be legally working in Saskatchewan
- Have a valid work permit
- Have Saskatchewan work experience
- Have a permanent full-time job offer from a Saskatchewan employer
- Intend to live and work permanently in Saskatchewan
Successful applicants receive a provincial nomination certificate that can be used to apply for Canadian permanent residence through the federal government.

- Health Talent Pathway
- Agriculture Talent Pathway
- Innovation and Tech Talent Pathway
Most streams require the Saskatchewan employer to obtain an Employer Position Assessment before the worker can apply.
Applicants cannot apply if they are refugee claimants in Canada.
Saskatchewan Experience Pathways
Skilled Worker With Existing Work Permit
This pathway is for foreign workers who:
- Have worked in Saskatchewan for at least six months
- Hold a valid work permit
- Have a permanent full-time job offer from a Saskatchewan employer
- Work in an eligible occupation
The occupation must generally be classified under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3, or be a designated trade.
Students
This pathway is for graduates of Saskatchewan post-secondary institutions who:
- Hold a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit or eligible open work permit
- Have completed at least six months of paid Saskatchewan work experience
- Have a permanent full-time job offer related to their field of study
Eligible work experience may include:
- On-campus work
- Off-campus work
- Co-op placements
- Graduate fellowships
- Work completed on a Post-Graduation Work Permit
Health Talent Pathway
This pathway is for health care workers with eligible Saskatchewan job offers.
Eligible occupations include:
- Physicians
- Registered nurses
- Licensed practical nurses
- Pharmacists
- Medical laboratory workers
- Dental occupations
- Social workers
- Caregivers and support workers
- Allied health professionals
Both Express Entry and Non-Express Entry application options are available.
Agriculture Talent Pathway
This pathway is for agricultural and food processing workers with Saskatchewan job offers in eligible occupations.
Eligible occupations include:
- Farm workers
- Harvesting labourers
- Nursery and greenhouse workers
- Food processing workers
- Livestock workers
- Agricultural machinery occupations
Innovation and Tech Talent Pathway
This pathway is for high-skilled technology and innovation workers with Saskatchewan job offers.
Eligible occupations include:
- Software developers
- Data scientists
- Cybersecurity specialists
- Engineers
- Web developers
- Information systems professionals
- Technology support occupations
Both Express Entry and Non-Express Entry application options are available.
2026 Sector-Based Nominations
Priority Sectors
Saskatchewan reserves at least 50 percent of nominations for workers employed in priority sectors, including:
- Healthcare
- Agriculture
- Skilled Trades
- Energy
- Mining
- Manufacturing
- Technology
Workers in priority sectors benefit from:
- No intake windows
- No requirement to apply only when six months or less remain on the work permit
Capped Sectors
Some sectors are subject to annual nomination caps, including:
- Accommodation and Food Services
- Trucking
- Retail Trade
2026 sector caps include:
- Accommodation and Food Services — 15 percent
- Trucking — 5 percent
- Retail Trade — 5 percent
For capped sectors:
- Employers can only submit Employer Position Assessment applications during scheduled intake windows
- Workers generally must have six months or less remaining on their work permits
Other Sectors
Workers employed in sectors outside priority and capped sectors:
- Are not subject to intake windows
- Do not need to wait until their work permit is near expiry
General Eligibility Requirements
Applicants generally must:
- Hold a valid work permit
- Be currently living and working in Saskatchewan
- Have a permanent full-time job offer from a Saskatchewan employer
- Meet work experience requirements
- Meet language requirements if applicable
- Demonstrate intent to settle permanently in Saskatchewan
- Submit all required documents
Applicants working in regulated occupations may also need licensing or registration eligibility.
Skilled Worker With Existing Work Permit Requirements
Work Permit Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a valid IRCC-issued work permit
- Have worked in Saskatchewan for at least six months with the supporting employer
Eligible work permits may include:
- Labour Market Impact Assessment-supported work permits
- Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel work permits
- Francophone Mobility work permits
Occupation Requirements
Applicants may qualify if their job offer is in:
- TEER 0 occupations
- TEER 1 occupations
- TEER 2 occupations
- TEER 3 occupations
- Eligible designated trades
Certain work permit holders may also qualify in TEER 4 or 5 occupations.
Language Requirements
Applicants with TEER 4 or 5 job offers must demonstrate:
- Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark 4
Employer Position Assessment
The Saskatchewan employer must:
- Register with the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program
- Obtain an approved Employer Position Assessment
Applicants must validate the Employer Position Assessment in their online account before applying.
Student Category Requirements
Education Requirements
Applicants must graduate from a Saskatchewan Designated Learning Institution with:
- A certificate
- A diploma
- A degree
Work Experience Requirements
Applicants must complete at least:
- Six months or 780 hours of paid Saskatchewan work experience
Job Offer Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A permanent full-time job offer related to their field of study
- A valid Employer Position Assessment
Language Requirements
Applicants with TEER 4 or 5 trade occupations must demonstrate:

Application Process
Step 1: Confirm Eligibility

Step 2: Secure a Saskatchewan Job Offer
Applicants must obtain a permanent full-time job offer from a Saskatchewan employer.
Step 3: Employer Obtains Employer Position Assessment
The employer must:
- Register with the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program
- Obtain an Employer Position Assessment
Applicants must validate the Employer Position Assessment in their online account.
Step 4: Gather Supporting Documents
Applicants must collect required documents, including:
- Work permits
- Passports and identity documents
- Language test results
- Educational documents
- Educational Credential Assessments if required
- Work experience documents
- Licensing documents
- Job offers
- Civil status documents
Step 5: Submit the Online Application
Applicants must:
- Create an online Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program account
- Complete all application sections
- Upload supporting documents
- Pay the application fee if applicable
- Submit the application electronically
Step 6: Receive a Provincial Nomination
Approved applicants receive a Saskatchewan nomination certificate.
Step 7: Apply for Permanent Residence
Applicants can then apply to the federal government for permanent residence. Express Entry applicants may receive faster processing.
