Ontario's French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream

Summary:

The Ontario Express Entry Stream for French-Speaking Skilled Workers is designed for French-speaking individuals with strong English language skills who wish to settle in Ontario. To be eligible, candidates must qualify for the federal Express Entry pool under either the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). However, candidates cannot apply directly to this stream but must first receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from the OINP based on their Express Entry profile. Once selected, candidates have 45 days to apply for nomination, and if approved, they can use it to apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The main eligibility requirement is the ability to speak French at CLB 7, and the stream often targets tech and healthcare-related occupations with CRS scores ranging from 312 and upwards in 2023, making it an attractive option for French-speaking skilled workers.

Ontario Express Entry Stream for French-Speaking Skilled Workers

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) offers a French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream that targets French-speaking skilled workers with strong English language abilities who want to establish themselves and settle in Ontario.

To be eligible for the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, candidates must qualify for the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) federal Express Entry pool under either

  • the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or
  • the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

However, candidates cannot apply directly to this stream. Instead, they must first receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from the OINP based on their Express Entry profile.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) searches the Express Entry pool and identifies potential candidates who meet the criteria of Ontario’s French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream. Candidates identified as potential candidates will receive a Notification of Interest (NOI), inviting them to apply to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program for nomination under this stream. Selected candidates have 45 calendar days to apply. Candidates will be notified of their nomination if their application is approved, and they can use it to apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
