Yukon Business Nominee Program

The Yukon Business Nominee Program (YBNP) offers a pathway for experienced entrepreneurs to establish, purchase, or partner in a business within Yukon, Canada. Successful applicants can obtain a two-year work permit to manage their business and may become eligible for permanent residency upon meeting specific criteria.
Eligibility Requirements
Personal Criteria:
- Net Worth: Minimum verifiable personal net worth of $500,000 CAD, with at least $300,000 CAD in liquid assets.
- Experience: At least three years of entrepreneurial or business management experience and five years of relevant work experience.
- Education: At least a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Language Proficiency: Achieve a minimum score of CLB 6 in English or Level 4 in French.
- Intent to Reside: Intend to live permanently in Yukon and actively manage the business.
Business Criteria:
- Investment: Invest a minimum of $300,000 CAD in capital investments for the business within the first two years.
- Ownership: Own at least 33.33% of the business.
- Sector: The business must belong to one of Yukon’s strategic sectors, such as information technology, manufacturing, tourism, energy, mining, agriculture, cultural industries, or film and video production.
Application Process
Expression of Interest (EOI):
- Submit an EOI to the YBNP, detailing your personal information, business experience, net worth, and proposed business plan.
Invitation to Apply (ITA):
- If your EOI is selected, you will receive an ITA, prompting you to submit a comprehensive application.
Application Submission:
- Provide a detailed application, including a business plan, proof of net worth, language proficiency results, and other supporting documents.
Interview:
- Attend an interview with YBNP officials to discuss your business proposal and intentions.
Business Performance Agreement (BPA):
- If approved, sign a BPA outlining the terms and conditions for your business operations in Yukon.
Work Permit:
- Obtain a two-year work permit to establish and manage your business in Yukon.
Business Establishment:
- Within two years of arriving in Yukon, implement your business plan as per the BPA.
Nomination for Permanent Residency:
- After meeting the BPA conditions, apply for provincial nomination for permanent residency.

The YBNP operates on a points-based system, assessing applicants on factors such as business experience, investment amount, net worth, language proficiency, education, and adaptability. Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 65 points to be considered for an ITA.

Priority is given to applicants proposing businesses that align with Yukon’s strategic sectors. Ineligible businesses include those primarily involved in passive investments, retail, wholesale operations, restaurants, financial services, and real estate.
