Summary:
The Manitoba Skilled Worker Stream is designed for qualified workers who have strong connections to Manitoba. Through this stream, the province selects candidates who have the skills, education, and work experience to contribute to Manitoba’s labor market and community.
Skilled Worker Overseas
This category is for skilled workers outside Canada who can demonstrate strong ties to Manitoba through family, work, education, or an invitation from the MPNP.
Minimum Applicant Requirements
To qualify, you must:
Score at least 60 out of 100 points on the assessment grid.
Demonstrate a connection to Manitoba through:
Manitoba Support (close family or friends in the province),
Manitoba Work or Study Experience, or
A Manitoba Invitation (exploratory visit or recruitment mission).
Manitoba Support
Your supporter must:
Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Manitoba for at least 1 year.
Be a close relative (parent, sibling, child, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, cousin, or grandparent).
Show their ability to support your settlement.
Have a record of successfully supporting other applicants (if applicable).
Note: Paid representatives and politicians cannot act as supporters.
Manitoba Work Experience
You must have:
At least 6 months of full-time work experience with a Manitoba employer.
A signed employer reference letter and valid work permit.
Manitoba Study Experience
You must have:
Completed a recognized full-time post-secondary program in Manitoba.
A diploma, certificate, or degree plus valid study permits and transcripts.
Manitoba Invitation
Issued at the discretion of MPNP, invitations may follow:
Recruitment missions abroad, often with Manitoba employers.
Exploratory visits (by invitation only), allowing candidates to research Manitoba’s opportunities.
Exploratory Visit Requirements:
Age 21–45.
At least 2 years of recent full-time work experience.
A post-secondary diploma, certificate, or degree (minimum 1 year).
Minimum CLB 6 language proficiency.
A Settlement Plan showing intention to live and work in Manitoba.
