Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry
Summary:
The Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry stream offers a pathway to permanent residence for highly skilled workers who have at least one year of work experience with a Nova Scotia employer.
To qualify, candidates must also be eligible for the federal Express Entry pool under one of the following programs:
Federal Skilled Worker Program
Federal Skilled Trades Program
Canadian Experience Class
Applicants can enter this stream in two ways:
By applying directly to the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI).
By receiving a selection invitation from NSOI through the Express Entry system.
To be considered, candidates must maintain an active Express Entry profile with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry stream, candidates must:
Hold a valid Express Entry profile.
Be between 21 and 55 years old.
Have at least 12 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid skilled work experience in Nova Scotia within the past three years.
Work experience cannot be from self-employment or while studying full-time.
Volunteer work, unpaid internships, or co-op placements are not eligible.
Work must be in an occupation classified as NOC 0, A, or B.
Have legally gained work experience in Nova Scotia with valid authorization (such as a work permit).
Hold either:
A Canadian secondary or post-secondary credential, OR
A recognized foreign credential with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from an IRCC-designated organization.
Meet minimum language requirements:
CLB 7 for NOC 0 and A occupations.
CLB 5 for NOC B occupations.
Acceptable language tests include IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General, or TEF (French).
Demonstrate intent to settle permanently in Nova Scotia and show ability to become economically established.
Interview:
Applicants may be asked to attend an in-person interview in Nova Scotia if required.

Who Cannot Apply
You are not eligible for the Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry stream if you are:
Without 12 months of eligible Nova Scotia-based work experience in the past three years.
Working in an occupation classified under NOC C or D.
A grandparent, parent, spouse, or common-law partner of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada.
Applying under humanitarian or refugee grounds, a failed refugee claimant, or in Canada illegally.
Subject to a removal order or otherwise prohibited from entering Canada.
Not legally residing in your country of residence or lacking valid status.
An international student currently enrolled in a Canadian institution.
A graduate of a Canadian program funded by your home country/government with an obligation to return.
A Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) holder who studied outside Nova Scotia or is employed in a NOC C or D occupation.
Someone with unresolved child custody or support disputes.
Employed in a commission-based sales role.
Participating in the Caregiver Program.
Intending to be self-employed or start a business in Nova Scotia.
A passive investor with no active involvement in a business.
