Application Process
The application process involves three main steps:
Step 1 – Apply to the NSNP
Eligible candidates submit an application online through the Nova Scotia Nominee Program’s portal.
Step 2 – Receive a Provincial Nomination
If approved, the applicant receives a provincial nomination from Nova Scotia.
Step 3 – Apply for Permanent Residence
With a provincial nomination, candidates apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency within 6 months. Spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children may be included in the application.
Note: This stream is not aligned with Express Entry, so federal processing times are longer and may exceed 12 months.
After Nomination
Successful applicants will receive a provincial nomination certificate from Nova Scotia, allowing them to submit a federal application for permanent residence. Once approved by IRCC, applicants and their families can settle permanently in Nova Scotia.
Fees
No fee is charged by the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration for this stream.
Applicants must pay standard federal fees when applying to IRCC for permanent residency.
