Farm Investor Pathway
Summary:
The Farm Investor Pathway (FIP) is part of the Business Investor Stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). It is designed for individuals with farm business management experience and sufficient capital who wish to establish and operate a farm in rural Manitoba.
FIP replaces the Farm Strategic Recruitment Initiative (FSRI). Applicants must demonstrate that their proposed farm will contribute to Manitoba’s primary agricultural production sector and align with the province’s farming practices.
Program Requirements

Farm Research Visit | Mandatory exploratory visit to Manitoba |
Farm Business Activities | Must be active, ongoing, and economically viable; speculative or passive investment models not eligible |
Adaptability | Demonstrated practical farming skills, technical knowledge, and transferable experience with modern farming technology |
Net Worth | Minimum $500,000, verified by an MPNP-approved third party (if requested) |
Important: Applicants must live on the farm, manage operations themselves, and conduct value-added farming activities. Use of third-party farm managers is not permitted.

Application Process
The Farm Investor Pathway follows a 7-step application process:
Step 1: Explore & Research Farming in Manitoba

Review the FIP criteria and confirm eligibility.

Conduct research on Manitoba’s farming industry and operations comparable to your own.

Complete the Farm Investor Pathway Interest Guidelines Form.
Step 2: Prepare Your Farm Business Concept

Develop and research your proposed farm business in Manitoba.

Complete a Farm Business Concept Form outlining your planned operations.
Step 3: Submit Initial Forms
Send the following by email to MPNP:

Farm Business Concept Form

Code of Conduct for Immigration Representatives (if applicable)
Note: This is not a full application. Only eligible concepts proceed to the next stage.
Step 4: Submit a Full Application (after receiving an LAA)

If issued a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA), submit a complete application package.

Provide net worth verification (if requested).

Submit all documents and fees within 120 days of receiving the LAA.
Step 5: Application Assessment

MPNP reviews your application and may request an interview.

If approved, you will sign a Deposit Agreement and submit a $75,000 refundable deposit.

A nomination certificate will then be issued.
Step 6: Apply for Permanent Residence

Apply to IRCC for permanent residence.

If approved, you will receive a PR visa.
Step 7: Establish Your Farm in Manitoba

Provide updated contact details to MPNP within 30 days of landing.

The farm must be located in rural Manitoba (not Winnipeg).

Eligible investments must align with primary agriculture production in Manitoba.
